Speaker: Danny Mundy

"Sir, I Have No Man" A World Without a Man John 5:1-11 Key verse: 5:7 Introduction - Crippled man in Bethesda, with "an infirmity", "impotent" - "Wilt thou be made whole?" - Unfathomable to say no to allow Jesus to make you whole. - Illustration: Why go to the doctor? because there is sickness, injury, or illness, and the sick person wants to be made healthy or whole again. - v 7 - "Sir, I have no man"; v 8 "Rise, take up your bed and walk. - Religious crowd upset v 9 - Too often we look to man to help us; people looking for answer in something man can do instead of tu=rning to God - The world we live in is in a sick diseased state - The only answer for our sin is in Jesus Christ - Bethesda a house of mercy but for 38 years this man found none. 1. Notice the Crowd - Nothing the crowd could do to help the man or help themselves. - Man, maybe 38 yrs old (speculated by commentators), went daily to the place that you could "possibly" find mercy or help, but found none. - Man cannot help you with your sin - Sin always leaves its mark. 2. Notice the Condition of the Crowd. - They were hopeless - no hope of help; no person could help this crippled man. - Many of us are paralyzed by sin. - Many Christians paralyzed spiritually, and they just don't want to change. - This man was intent on getting some help. - Things will not get better for you until you are ready to make a change. - Your hope is dependent on what you do with the Lord Jesus Christ. - Wherever you are spiritually this morning, no man can get you there, your hope is only in the Lord Jesus Christ. - The crippled man was honest; he had no man to help him. - Christ only had to ask this man one time if he wanted to be made whole ... How many times has Christ asked you to be made whole? - Only Christ can make you whole. - There is no medication that can cure your sin. 3. The Concern of the Savior - Christ asked - "Wilt thou be made whole?" - It's never too late, Christ knows! - No person will ever have the compassion that Christ has for you; He died for you. - Jesus does not want anyone to suffer in their sin. 4. Notice the Cry of this Man - "I Have no man" - It is all of our cry's - We have Christ! 5. The Cure the Savior Gave - Jesus is the only way - v8 "Rise, take up thy bed, and walk" - How many people walked by this man and maybe offered help, but it was only Christ that was able to give this man the help he needed. - Jesus did not point this man in a direction where he could get help; Jesus was the help! Have you responded to Christ? Will you be made whole?
