The prophecy of Christ in Isaiah chapter seven was given to Ahaz when Rezin, the king of Syria and Pekah the king of Israel had formed an alliance to attack him. It was Isaiah who was sent to Ahaz to tell him not to fear. However, Ahaz was told to ask for a sign from God as proof that He was going to do what He said; Ahaz, acting like he was trusting God, refused to ask for a sign, yet God gave a sign anyway despite his lack of trust in God; Ahaz was already planning to put his trust in the king of Assyria by seeking his help.
