All Things New, Part 40: Spiritual Growth Chart

Jesus sits down and begins to share with the people what the kingdom of God looks like. He begins with what we call the Beatitudes. The word is not found in scripture, but is from the Latin word for blessed. These first 12 verses can be viewed from a lot of different perspectives, but we will look at them in the context of spiritual growth. Unlike a spiritual gift that may differ from one believer to another, the beatitudes are to be the goal of every believer. The attitude as well as the reward is intended to be experienced by all followers, not just a few. Each of these attitudes builds on a previous one.
