In some ways Jonah is symbolic of Christ. He's also symbolic of us. The heart is deceitfully wicked above all things. Who can even know it? We have a sin nature and we still sin. We are headed the same way as Jonah. But, because of the work of Christ, that is not how we're going to end up.
