Living Water

Today we celebrate Pentecost. Let’s put this day in perspective. Pentecost follows Ascension Day. In fact, today will be ten days since Ascension. On Ascension, we celebrated Jesus ascension into heaven. Ascension comes forty days after Easter, the day of our Lord’s resurrection. Quick review now. We celebrated our Lord’s resurrection on Easter. Then forty days later, Jesus ascended into heaven. Ten days later, the Holy Spirit comes upon the disciples at Pentecost. When Jesus tells us about “living water” He was pointing to this day. So, we celebrate the ultimate thirst quencher today – the Holy Spirit.
