Elijah was first sent into a confrontation with Ahab, then sent into a time of waiting at Cherith, now he will be further challenged through the experience of Zarephath. But with an eye always on the horizon to which God was drawing him, Elijah remained faithful and grew in his faith. One reason I believe Elijah could withstand these days of hardship was that he saw something above and beyond the circumstances.
